We require that you sign up for all classes online. If you forget to do so, simply ask at the front desk if there is still space available. Although we prefer to keep our classes small to ensure you get individual attention, if there are still spots available, you’ll be all set!

Bring gloves, hand wraps, a towel, and water. It is very important to drink plenty of water before and after class.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to get settled. Upon arrival, check in at the front desk. If you have not filled out an online waiver, please do so upon entering the gym. You may leave your bags behind the gate, in a locker if available, or carry them with you to the ring.

If you have never boxed before, you will first be attending BOXING 101, our 60-minute Beginner Boxing class, where you will spend the first 30 minutes learning the fundamentals of boxing and the last 30 minutes implementing what you just learned on the heavy bags! We insist that EVERYONE take Boxing 101 upon joining the gym and before taking any other classes. It is very important to us that we know your abilities and skills before letting you join our boxing classes.

Wear comfortable clothing (yoga pants, tank top, shorts).

We offer gloves and wraps for you to use at your first class. Once you become a member, you will want to invest in your own hand wraps and gloves. Both are sold in our pro shop.

Please carry your class shoes into the studio—especially in bad weather! You may wear sneakers in class, although boxing shoes are preferable, but please carry them in.

Do not eat immediately prior to class, nor should you work out on an empty stomach. The best practice is to eat 30-60 minutes before class.

If you have already taken Boxing 101 and are signed up for your second class, please remind us at the front desk. At Striking Beauties, it is extremely important to us that you feel welcomed and at ease, especially on your first visit! That is why we created our “SB Buddy System,” where we will pair you up with one of our seasoned members (SB Ambassadors, as we like to call them) for the entire class. They will guide you if you feel lost, encourage you if you feel like quitting, or simply be a familiar face in an unfamiliar crowd.

Be prepared to sweat!! But remember, whether this is your first boxing class or if you have not exercised in a while, go at your own pace! Our classes are mixed levels. You will find beginning students alongside advanced boxers. You are not expected to keep up with anyone else. The only person you are competing against is yourself! Sure, we want you to get a great workout, but learning and repeatedly practicing the fundamentals is our paramount concern, especially during your early weeks at the gym.

The cornerstone of Striking Beauties’ method is for you to learn the fundamentals of boxing and maintain proper form. Yup, we will drive you crazy. Hands back to the face, feet apart, squish the bug, stay low, elbows in…You will probably hear these instructions in your sleep! Our role is to not only teach you HOW to box but also to teach you WHY. WHY we stand in our stance, WHY our hands return to our face, WHY our chin stays down…At Striking Beauties, we are here to do more than just teach you to throw punches. We are here to empower you through knowledge. Our adherence to the fundamentals may be annoying at times, but it will ensure you maintain correct form, utilize the right muscles, prevent injury, and guarantee you will get the most out of your workout. 🙂 Lastly, if you feel faint, do not push yourself. You’re not here to prove anything. Simply stop, walk around, get fresh air, and tell someone how you feel. It is imperative that you listen to your body. We want you safe, healthy, and coming back for more!!!
