Boxing not only conditions the body, it strengthens the soul.

Dena Paolino, Esq.
Founder and President
Striking Beauties Boxing Gyms

What drove you towards this career path in the first place?

I wanted to share the power and confidence boxing gave me with my girlfriends but they were intimidated by traditional boxing gyms. After realizing there were no women’s boxing gyms, I found my calling.

What aspects of your business are you most proud of?

I’m proud of the way Striking Beauties has shaped the perspective of our future generation. My children and my members’ kids have grown up alongside women lacing up their boxing gloves, hitting the heavy bags or stepping into the ring to spar. They have never questioned whether or not “a girl can do that?” Rather, the girls just do it, and the boys simply assume they can!

What is your favorite part about your job?

It has been exciting to watch hundreds of young girls and women undergo a physical, mental and emotional transformation and become empowered. Boxing not only conditions the body, it strengthens the soul. Soon we will share this in our newest gym, opening in Cranston this summer!

Do you have any advice for young girls in general?

It is imperative that we raise confident young women, especially given the current political environment. Therefore, it is our responsibility to encourage girls to speak up and feel that their words are valued, to empower their confidence, to support their ambitions, to listen and educate them that they can make a positive difference in the world. How do we do empower young women? Through education, volunteerism, safe open discussions and sports, especially non-contact, boxing training.
