Snow and the Rhode Show!
Posted by: | CommentsYeah!!! The snow finally came!! Well, you may not agree, but we LOVE it! (Ok, it might just be me who loves it 
) But it does make outdoor running a bit more difficult, so it’s time to bring it inside onto the treadmills as we get ready for upcoming fights and the Warrior Dash competition!
The Warrior Dash may not be until June but have you taken a look at that the website? Those people are crazy!!! I guess that means we are too!! Better start training today!! Join us for Coach Jess’s MONDAY 9:30am Derby Girl class as well as her WEDNESDAY 5:30pm Core Conditioning. Just 2 of our many classes at SB designed to whip us into shape!!
Today we were LIVE on The Rhode Show! Mary is an awesome host, so much fun to work with and just puts you at ease. If you didn’t get a chance to see us, check out the WPRI website and pick up some fitness tips and exercises.
Tracey, our lovely personal trainer, did a 2 minute routine- 4 exercises – high knees/squat jumps/push ups/bicycle crunches – back to back, 30 seconds each. No rest. At the end of the 2 minutes, you can take a rest for 1 minute. The intensity, speed and power from this format mimics the conditions and demands of an amateur boxing round. Boxing requires us to train sport specific and this is a great example. But you can create your own workout- just choose an exercise to do intensely, non-stop for 2 minutes. Rest 1 minute and repeat! Jumping rope is great, shadow boxing too! Whatever you choose, give 100% for the 2 minutes, rest a minute then do it again!! 5 times! Well, what are you waiting for – get up!

2012…A NEW YOU in a NEW YEAR!
Posted by: | CommentsAs 2011 comes to an end, it’s time to reflect upon all that has happened during the past 12 months. Each one of us has spent the entire year living and learning. Every day our lives were touched by something or someone. We experienced happy times, sad times, crazy times, fun times, loving times, difficult times, stressful times, rewarding times, emotional times, blessed times. And we grew from every encounter; from every experience we absorbed lessons, consciously or unconsciously.
As 2011 comes to an end, we reflect back on those experiences and ponder the lessons learned. From those lessons, we make New Year’s resolutions. Promises to ourselves that we will never repeat those experiences or promises to ourselves that we shall relive them, again and again, throughout the year quickly approaching.
As 2011 comes to an end, we at STRIKING BEAUTIES wish you a new year filled with positive lessons, healthy habits, wise choices, adherence to your goals, fulfillment of your dreams and success in all you strive to attain.
May you and yours have a healthy, happy and prosperous 2012!

Now is when we reflect on our good fortunes and realize that no matter what obstacles jump in our way, we are tough enough to hurdle them! It is also the time for us to give back; to share our love, friendship and kindness.
Now is the time to look around; at the woman standing next to you in line at the market or the man stopped next to you at the red light; to think about their lives and what you can do for them.
During this holiday season, remember to slow down, live in the moment, read a book with a child, listen to stories of days past, and practice random acts of kindness.
Life is what we make of it every day.
There are no guarantees that we will have tomorrow so savor every moment of today!

Adorning our beautiful pink Christmas tree are the names of 33 teenage boys who live in foster care at a RI group home. These boys have prepared their Christmas wish lists and SB has promised to fulfill each and every one!
Every year SB focuses on making the holidays happy for the teens in foster care and group homes. These are the kids so often forgotten during the season when the focus is on the little ones. Won’t you help us keep our promise to these boys? Stop in and take an ornament from our tree. Each boxing glove ornament has the name, age and wishes of a different boy.
Your generosity will give these boys a very Merry Christmas!
2011 National PAL Results

Striking Beauties' Coach Zach Reay & Amanda Pavone make New England proud with the National PAL Championship belt. Special thanks to the awesome Liz Leddy who worked Amanda's corner!
USA Boxing New England should be so proud of the women who represent them!
An amazing showing by Liz Leddy who won her first 2 bouts, only to lose in the 3rd. However, due to technicalities, there is still the possibility that Liz could take the #3 qualifying spot from the National PALs for the US Olympic trial team. No one deserves it more than Liz, so let’s hope this works out fairly in her favor!!!
Then there is Amanda Pavone, the talented 119 lb. fire cracker who keeps ringing up the wins and bringing home golds and silvers! She fought Araceli Tinoco, winning by decision, 19-14.
Once again, incredible job Amanda! We are so proud of you!
Coach Reay, in his first solo coaching event, brings the Gold and the Belt home to New England and Striking Beauties! A young, ambitious and extremely hard-working trainer, Coach Reay focused all his time and energy on Amanda, and it paid off!
Last, but certainly not least, Striking Beauties wants to congratulate all the male fighters from RI who shared in the wins and losses in Ohio. Toka & Anthony won every bout up until the very end. Once again, New England’s stars shine across the country! We may not bring home the gold every time, but we certainly leave our mark and bring home the respect and pride deserving to these relentless achievers!
Great job AMANDA! Now it’s on to the National GOLDEN GLOVES tournament!

Amanda won all 3 bouts leading up to the finals, where she and her opponent tied!!! But sadly she lost in the tie-breaker count. Well, all I can say is Amanda you kicked ass and we are SOOO proud of you!!!
Now girls, it’s time to focus on FLORIDA and the USA Boxing National Golden Gloves!!! MAGEN KNELL and AMANDA PAVONE will be representing Striking Beauties as we travel to Florida July 4th! LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE GIRLS!!!
FUN & FIT this weekend!
Posted by: | CommentsDon’t miss a fabulously fun and fit weekend! Starting FRIDAY NIGHT at 5:30pm, Charlie kicks off the weekend with his infamous “REALITY KICKBOXING” class. Then go home and rest up for our first STRIKING BEAUTIES 5K!
Starting SATURDAY MORNING at 8am (registration) the race takes off promptly at 830am from STRIKING BEAUTIES, 18 Church Street, North Attleboro. Entry donation $10. All proceeds go to the STRIKING BEAUTIES PROJECT to provide financial support for our own Amanda Pavone on her journey to the Olympics!
Lil Strikers Summer Camp is taking registration for our 3 week-long camps. Join us Monday – Thursday am for kicking, boxing, self-defense and lots of fun! Mix in 2 days of gymnastics and you’ve doubled the fun! CALL TODAY TO RESERVE your lil striker’s spot!
SCHEDULE CHANGE…LIL STRIKERS SUMMER SCHEDULE…Starting July the week of JULY 4th, LIL STRIKERS will change to the summer schedule. MONDAY/WEDNESDAY remains at 3:45pm but TUESDAY/THURSDAY will move to 10:30am. Please speak with Lorie about switching your days and times. We are happy to accommodate your schedule!
